Second Wedding Dresses

If you are celebrating a second marriage or a wedding anniversary, there won’t be any hesitation in going for a second wedding dress. Though some people may be against this for practical reasons, it is perfectly alright to have a new one.

But where should you get your second wedding dress? Here are some places you could look into.

- Have a new one tailor-made for you. It doesn’t matter if it’s second or third marriage. What matters is that it’s an important event that you’re celebrating. So why not have a new wedding dress for that day? Of course it can be quite expensive too, but if you have the budget for it then go for a new dress by all means.

- Look into your mother’s closet. If you wish to use your mother’s wedding dress to celebrate your wedding, you can do that too. Sure, there’s a chance that the design might be outdated but if the design has a timeless appeal then you can wear it without any alterations. However, if you’re fine with it and if your mother allows you to do it, you can also have it altered to make it fit you better and to give it an updated look.

- Have your old wedding dress altered. Okay, this isn’t technically getting a second wedding dress. But by having it altered and updating its look, you can have a new-looking wedding dress that costs far less than getting a new one.

- Buy a ready-to-wear dress. If you’re in a hurry or have a very tight budget, you can choose this option. This definitely is cheaper than having a new one made for you. But as they say, you get what you pay for. Getting a ready-to-wear dress means that it may not fit you well or may not be the look that you really want. Having it altered can be cheap however if you want to make drastic changes on the design, you might be better off having a tailor-made dress instead.

- Rent one. This is one final option that we advise against unless you are really left without any other choice. Renting a dress may be cheap, but you’ll surely look cheap too. Imagine how many other brides have already worn that dress, so unless it’s maintained perfectly then it will definitely look, well, worn. Aside from that, the fit will look bad. What’s worse is that you can’t have it altered in any way. So again, if you have other options, do yourself a favor and try not renting a dress for your wedding.
